20,000 Workers May be Idled Because of Freeze

Up to 20,000 workers may be out of work because of the cold weather which is on-going in California. The harsh weather is having a devestating affect on the citrus industry.

Officials at the United Farm Workers union say they believe 20,000 farm
workers will be affected from this year's freeze. Workers tell Action News they
hope the government will step in and help assist them in this desperate
time.

Right now, no one is working in these orange groves in
Visalia. Workers like Everardo Cabrero Castro and Bernardina Gomez were told
last Saturday that there would be no work for them until further notice.
