Jim Wisemeyer of Informa Economics provides a summary of happenings at the American Farm Bureau meeting. There are some interesting points about the impact of ethanol on all of agriculture, not just corn production.
Will increasing corn prices mean less planting of other crops forcing an increase in the price of these crops as well, i.e. wheat, oats, etc? Will congress continue support for ethanol tax credits? How will the current trade talks affect farm bill policy? Will there be a safety net for farmers?
Also some very intersting points regarding the need for agriculture to take head on the extremist animal groups that have popped up in recent years.
