The Indiana Farm Family of the Year is a symbolic representation of all the
farm families in the state, and this year the family truly represents the
diversity of Indiana agriculture. Ed and Linda Leininger of St. Joseph County
were chosen as the Farm Family of the Year and honored on Wednesday at the Ft.
Wayne Farm Show. The Leiningers raise corn, soybeans, hogs, angus cattle, sweet
corn, and pumpkins. In addition, they are a multi-generational farm with
children and grandchildren involved in the operation. Like many
Hoosier farm families, they are feeling the pressure of urban sprawl but have
found a way to adapt and take advantage of new markets.
