Indiana Senate Passes Corn Checkoff

From Brownfield Network:

By a vote of 40 to 6 the Indiana Senate on Tuesday passed SB158 sponsored by State Senator Beverly Gard of Greenfield that establishes a new corn checkoff program. The legislation now goes to the Indiana House for consideration.“We couldn’t be more pleased,” said Matt Gibson, president of the Indiana Corn Growers Association and a Newton County farmer. “We felt very confident that we had a majority of the Senate, we had no idea that we had such an overwhelming majority. I think it says a lot about where Indiana is going now with agriculture, I think it says how well versed most of the Senator’s have become on ag issues,” Gibson said.
