Field Work Finally Under Way in East Central Illinois

Today it finally warmed up and dried up enough for spring tillage work to begin here in east central Illlinois. I took a quick drive late this afternoon and saw numerous farmers in the field. It got up into the high 40's today which was much more mild than the last couple of weeks.

At my small farm - I have several grape vines that took a serious hit with the cold temperatures. There wasn't much I could to protect them. Blackberries and rasberries look in much better shape, apple trees might be OK. We have some chickens that are about a month old now that are getting ready to make the move outside to their new pen. Spring is definetly here.
