I watched a show tonight on the History Channel about growing nuts. One part that caught my attention was the growth of the Pistachio industry, in particular the spectacular growth of Paramount Farms in Lost Hills, California.
The pistachio industry is relatively new in the United States, having gotten much larger in the 1980's after the change in governments in Iran, which used to be the worlds dominant producer of pistachio's.
Paramount Farms now has nearly 28,000 acre of pistashio's they grow in the San Joaquin Valley in central California. They also have a full scale processing facility to harvest the nuts, sort and them package them for delivery.
