Pork Producer Get's Bigger

Despite the outcry from the pork industry that the corn price is driving them out of business, at least one company seems to be making money:

The nation’s seventh-largest pork producer - processing more than 2.7 million hogs a year - just got a little larger.

Maschhoff’s Inc. has purchased Iowa-based Blackjack Pork, including facilities in Iowa, Illinois, Iowa and Oklahoma. The private, family owned companies did not disclose the sale price, but the acquisition adds more than 20,000 hogs a year to Machhoff’s production capacity, a spokesman for the company said today.
