Harvest is Going to Be Late

In eastern Illinois, I have not seen any real activity involving harvest with the exception of seed corn that has been harvested. With so many crops being planted late this year, it will probably be the end of October before everything is done. The corn around my house is now turning rapidly and the ears have begun to drop.

Last Sunday we received 3 1/2 inches of rain as a result of hurricane Ike. It has washed out some fields, but seems to have drained off generally very quickly.
